Christianna Mason is a London-based Production and Events Designer. Originally from Northern Ireland, she grew up in Belgium and completed her further education in England. She trained in Set and Costume Design at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, following a BA Hons in Drama and Theatre Studies (First Class), and a Foundation in Fine Art. She has a particular interest in new writing, immersive productions, and storylines that highlight feminist or queer experiences.
For the last two years she has been the lead associate to the designer, Rebecca Brower, specialising in immersive productions including: The Paddington Bear Experience, Museum of Infinite Realities (Belgium), Doctor Who Time Fracture, and Secret Cinema productions that have yet to be announced. She was also Design Lead on the interior design of the new arts venue, VAULT, in central London.
As a Set and Costume Designer, she has worked on a variety of shows, recent design credits include: Blowhole (Soho Theatre), A Hundred Words for Snow (Trafalgar Studios), The Healing (Omnibus Theatre), Alice in Wonderland and Romeo and Juliet (Zurich International Middle School), The Odyssiad (Oxford Playhouse) and Boatswains Mate (Arcola). She also has experience in film, most recently as an Art Director for ‘Abracadopera’ – a collaboration between Sky Arts and the English National Opera to intended to introduce Opera to primary school children.
She also works as an Event Designer, for example: creating dramatic entrances in the Tate Modern for GQ Man of the Year Award, private American Express events at Claridge’s Hotel, and . She founded the Designers Mentorship Network with the Society of British Theatre Designers: a mentoring programme that paired 52 designers, from all career stages, across the UK to encourage connectivity, career plans and community.
